The China-U.S. economic and trade teams concluded two days of consultations in Kuala Lumpur, marking their fifth face-to-face meeting since May this year.

  U.S. representative Bentsen stated that both sides had reached a “very substantive framework agreement,” and that the U.S. “no longer considers” imposing 100% tariffs on China. U.S. Trade Representative Greer described the talks as productive, covering topics such as extending the suspension period for reciprocal tariffs and rare earths. Both sides are finalizing the details of the trade agreement proposal, which is nearly ready for submission to their respective leaders for review.

  Speaking in Kuala Lumpur, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence in reaching “a very comprehensive agreement” with China.

  The two sides held in-depth and candid discussions on issues including U.S. Section 301 measures affecting China's maritime logistics and shipbuilding industries, extending the suspension period for reciprocal tariffs, fentanyl tariffs and anti-drug cooperation, expanding trade, and export controls. They constructively explored solutions and reached preliminary consensus.

  Both sides agreed to further refine specific details and complete their respective domestic approval procedures. The outcomes of the talks received positive evaluations, and both sides agreed to continue strengthening communication to promote the stable and healthy development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
