Belgium's rail system has been completely shut down since 10:00 PM local time on January 25, marking the start of a five-day nationwide strike. This action, jointly initiated by the country's five major railway unions, aims to oppose the government's proposed draft bill for railway system reforms while expressing concerns over adjustments to the labor-management negotiation mechanism.

During the strike, national passenger rail services will be severely disrupted. The Belgian National Railway Company (SNCB/NMBS) stated that only a very limited number of train services will be operated, depending on the number of non-striking staff available. Rail services are scheduled to resume no earlier than 10:00 PM on January 30.
