Zim International Lines Launches New US-Venezuela Route, Connecting Puerto Cabello and Puerto La Guaira Weekly

Recently, Israeli container shipping company ZIM officially launched a new service connecting the United States and Venezuela. Operating weekly, this service directly links key hubs on the U.S. East Coast—including New York, Miami, Houston, and Savannah—with Puerto Cabello and La Guaira in Venezuela.

According to ZIM's customer announcement, the route aims to provide a more stable and efficient shipping option. CEO Eli Glickman also noted on social media that the new service will maintain consistent sailing schedules and transit times to support the smooth operation of global supply chains.

Given the changes in Venezuela's foreign trade environment in recent years, the launch of this route may signal a gradual recovery in regional economic and trade activities. Although the current frequency is limited, as one of the few direct container services connecting the U.S. and Venezuela, it undoubtedly offers an additional option for businesses with relevant logistics needs.

Overall, ZIM's move responds to market demand and may serve as a reference for future shipping company deployments in the Caribbean and northern South America. Of course, the actual effectiveness will depend on subsequent cargo volumes and operational stability.
