Joint strike at ports across multiple Mediterranean countries on February 6
According to multiple foreign media reports, the grassroots dockworkers' union Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) in Italy recently announced plans to launch an international general strike on February 6, 2026.
The strike is scheduled to last 24 hours and will involve maritime departments and related workers across all ports nationwide.
Unions in Greece, Turkey, and Morocco have confirmed they will take coordinated action on the same day.
It is reported that at least 21 ports in the Mediterranean region will join the initiative, including key hubs such as the Port of Piraeus, the Port of Bilbao, the Port of Tangier, and the Port of Antalya.
The USB union stated: “The strike on February 6 will not be the last, but rather the beginning of a new season of struggle.”
